“Many Hopes Lie Buried Here”
In 1833 Lulu Fellows died at the tender age of sixteen. Visitors bring coins, toys and other gestures of sympathy for her. The phrase “Many Hopes Lie Buried Here” are etched on the monument. And it would seem that that phrase sums up the pain of losing a child.
Many visitors say that the smell of fresh flowers fills the surrounding area, even in winter when there are no flowers around.
